VAER Upcycled is a Copenhagen-based sustainable footwear brand founded by Lili Dreyer and Emma Diehl. The brand was built around the philosophy of circular design, aiming to divert discarded textiles from landfills and turn them into high-value sneakers. The name VÆR is derived from the Danish word for 'value' (værdi) as well as the verb 'to be' (vær), reflecting their mission to see worth in post-consumer materials and let textiles retain their original, authentic character without unnecessary chemically heavy transformations.
