VAER Upcycled was founded in Copenhagen by Lili Dreyer and Emma Diehl with a mission to divert discarded textiles from landfills and turn them into high-value sneakers. The name VÆR comes from the Danish word for 'value' (værdi) and the verb 'to be' (vær), reflecting their belief in seeing worth in post-consumer materials. Each pair is made in a family-owned factory in Porto, Portugal, using upcycled workwear and tablecloths sourced within Europe. The STARK Black Orange Phoenix Sneaker embodies this circular philosophy: a bold, one-of-a-kind design that gives new life to discarded textiles while keeping production ethical and local.
